SGT. MIKE BATTLE: SADDAM STOMPER! #1048

We got him”

Whereas most issues of SMB:GAH are created with a safe cushion of at least 10 years hindsight to the events portrayed within, this issue was unique. Pearce was working on SMB:GAH #5, when US Forces in Iraq captured the former dictator Saddam Hussein.

Rather than sit back and ignore the event (and also not to upset readers by delivering an issue different to the advertised one), Pearce decided to tell the story in a “Sgt Mike Battle special”.

Outside the regular SMB:GAH numbering, SMB:SS #1048 is an epic 16 pages and is the real version of how Saddam was captured, not the wimpy version about him hiding in a hole.

And if this issue didn’t sound like one of the best comics ever already, Pearce then decided to make the issue FREE!!!

This issue is:

SGT. MIKE BATTLE: SADDAM STOMPER! #1048 Dec 2003

FREE, 20-pages, B+W with a gatefold cover.
