SGT. MIKE BATTLE: THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO! #7

Image was Everything”

As a naive and gullible 13 year-old, Graham Pearce thought that every comic produced by Image Comics and Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Studios was a mini-masterpiece… but then he grew up and realised the error of his ways.

The idea to pay homage to the early Image Comics had been floating around in Pearce's head since 2003, but he needed to wait for his artwork to reach a certain level of competence before attempting the story.

Originally scheduled for SMB:GAH #8, the BATTLEBLOOD story was brought forward to cover for productions problem with the “Last Admin Hero” storyline. When The O Men’s Martin Eden asked if Pearce wanted to share a table at the Bristol Comic Expo in May 2006, Pearce had 5 months to rewrite, script, illustrate and letter and entire issue.

With the clock ticking away, Pearce delivered the greatest tribute to early Image Comics and pushed the boundaries by introducing nearly 200 unique, and potentially merchandisable, characters and almost manages to construct 1 hint of a storyline.

This issue features:

SGT. MIKE BATTLE’S BATTLEBLOOD! #922 June 1993
