SGT. MIKE BATTLE: THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO! #2

Although advertised as the next issue in SMB:GAH #1, Graham Pearce never actually planned to produce the book that became SMB:GAH #2 (originally known as DEFENDER OF LIBERTY! to #1’s GREATEST AMERICAN HERO!), but intended to use the advert as a joke hinting at Battle other 20th century incarnations.
Despite his earlier vow not to continue with his self proclaimed “sub-standard Nick Fury parody”, Pearce couldn’t help but come up with hundreds more ideas for Battle’s exploits. With a bit of research (must of it deliberately ignored to get that authentic Hollywood feel) he soon had 3 rip-roaring adventures that stayed true to the advert from #1.
The random and unconnected chapters in this issue are:
DET. MIKE BATTLE: GANGSTER STOMPER! #150 Feb 1929
SGT. MIKE BATTLE: COSMONAUT STOMPER! #494 May 1957
SGT. MIKE BATTLE: AXIS STOMPER! #319 March 1943
SGT. MIKE BATTLE: AXIS STOMPER! #320 April 1943
