1 April 2008 WATCHBLOOD Delayed

Following the announcement that Watchblood, the World’s Worst Comic™, was returning in 2009 and was being re-mastered, re-scripted and re-lettered, the release date has been postponed. Originally it was due to be released in March 2009 to coincide with the cinema release Watchmen but it has been delayed due to “printing issues”. The creative force behind Watchblood is artist Rob Leningrad who was quick to deny the rumours that the delay is because he hasn’t actually done any work on the book. Leningrad promises that it will be out in 2009 as promised!

10 February 2009 Update on SGT MIKE BATTLE #13

After much writing and rewriting it appears that the Roger Knightly/Shapely Charms romance that started in #12 will not be fully concluded in #13... instead their storyline will continue into #14 as well! For the last 6 weeks I have been trying to find a way to get the whole story down to something that will fit into a single issue but it just wasn't possible. I had too many scenes that needed to be there and even then I wasn't giving those scenes the space they needed. The new plan for the next 2 issues is that #13 features the build up to the Wedding of Roger Knightly and Shapely Charms AND #14 will be the wedding itself (and the inevitable overblown fight scene that ensues).

#13 is still expected to be published at the Bristol Comic Expo in May 2009 and #14 should be out in late 2009.

23/8/2007 COMICS INTERNATIONAL reviews #8

how cool is it when you're on holiday, buying comics and you see an awesome review of one of your books in Comics International?

Here's what they said about SGT. MIKE BATTLE: THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO #8...

"Evil terrorist group A.C.R.O.N.Y.M take over a US office building and the only hopes lies with a lowly admin assistant. The sharp wit and clever satire of previous issues is present and correct, this time taking a swipe at Die Hard-style action movies, but this comic is an improvement in that writer/artist Graham Pearce backs up the jokes with a solid and interesting plot, resulting in the most well rounded issue so far. (KG) 9/10

and to think I thought issue #8 was a bit crap compared to #9...

10/8/2007 Site Update

20/7/2007 SGT MIKE BATTLE #10 – Update

After literally dozens of rewrites, the plot for SGT. MIKE BATTLE: THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO! #10 is finished. It's taken much longer than I had hoped to get to this point but it's because there is so much to squeeze into the final part of LAST ADMIN HERO. Rather than being just 24 pages, it looks like the concluding chapter with be 32 pages minimum. I'm still aiming for a Oct/Nov 2007 release date but I keep all fans updated and will post the occasional page on the site.

22/1/2007 SGT MIKE BATTLE plugged by ALL THE RAGE

In his recent column from for Silver Bullet Comic Books Steven Saunders refers to Sgt Mike Battle saying...

One thing I saw recently that looks right up my alley is Sgt. Mike Battle, by Graham Pearce, a man with a serious mission: to write great comics... Sgt. Mike Battle is the kind of comic that should appeal to those with a warped sense of humour, naturally... This comic comes with my personal recommendation, so get to ordering it. That's an order! Or rather, it's an order to order. What? Oh, just get it, okay?!”

22/1/2007 The SGT MIKE BATTLE website is back!

After a cowardly sneak-attack by cyber-terrorists, the official Sgt. Mike Battle website is now back online… albeit it in a very limited format. The rest of the site will be rebuilt in time and will ultimately be revamped with information about back issues, there will be previews of issues that are still in production and there might even be a “Creator's Commentary” section why I explain how the previous issues came about, why things happen and maybe even highlight references to other books

1/4/2007 Graham Pearce will be at Bristol 2007

Yes, I've booked a table and will be there with as many issues of SGT MIKE BATTLE: THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO as I can make by May 2007. Hopefully SMB:GAH #8 AND 9 will be ready by then. For more info about the Comic Expo visit the official site here

13/12/2006 The next SGT MIKE BATTLE story gets even bigger

After struggling over the script for the epic storyline LAST ADMIN HERO, I finally realised that it's too big to be contained within SGT. MIKE BATTLE: THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO! #8-9. Rather than try and it all into 48 pages, I decided that the story needs to be 72 pages! Also, because I want to get into the habit of publishing SMB:GAH on a more regular basis, I decided against have squeezing the story into just two 36 page issues. Instead LAST ADMIN HERO will be spread over 3 issues of SMB:GAH.

Part 1 of LAST ADMIN HERO features in SMB:GAH #8 and will be out in March 2007. Parts 2 and 3 will follow. Check this page for details.

30/11/2007 SMB:GAH #7½ is out now and it's FREE

Want to see an exclusive trailer for the LAST ADMIN HERO? Then order a copy of SGT MIKE BATTLE: THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO! #7½, which is an exclusive comic that previews the epic 2-part story. Just think of it as a movie trailer, although you'll have to imagine the deep, gravelling voice-over saying "it was a time of War" etc. It's out now and it's free. If you want a copy, order here

16/8/2006 COMICS INTERNATIONAL reviews SMB:GAH #7

It’s the 1990s and Mike Battle has to contend with the dreadfulness of the Image era. Graham Pearce’s satirical eye is as sharp as ever. With some well-observed digs at Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane and the gang, and like the best works of satire, the comic is an entertaining read in it’s own right.” (KG) 8/10
